CLAY TARGET SHOOTING
What is 5-Stand?
5-Stand is like Sporting Clays in one place. There are multiple clay throwers (traps) that use the space allowed to present the different targets. There are 5 stations/positions lined up next to each other, to shoot from, and shooters typically shoot a single target and then 2 pair from each station for a total of 25 per round. Depending on the group's skill level we will adapt how we shoot the targets. The variety of trajectories gives us the ability to showcase a wide variety of target combinations in a small space.

Safety
As with a lot of outdoor sports, there is an element of risk involved. That is especially true with firearms. All guidelines and rules will be followed. No unsafe behavior will be tolerated.
1. All participants - whether they are shooting or not, will be required to wear eye and ear protection once the shooting starts. This will be provided or you can bring your own. Sunglasses and prescription glasses are okay.
2. Personal firearms and ammo are allowed but will be reviewed prior to shooting.
Shot sizes for ammo allowed are 7½, 8, 8½ and 9; and nothing larger than 1⅛ oz. 12g loads.
3. The rules will be reviewed in the waiver you sign prior to the event, and again, once we are at the sporting location along with emergency procedures.
What to Expect
&
(more importantly)
What to WEAR
1. Meeting place TBD
2. Sign Waivers and check in personal firearms and ammo. Loaner guns will be provided for anyone needing one, including models for youth or ladies, once we get to shooting location.
3. Bathroom break prior to heading to shooting location (porto-potty onsite)
4. Load up into 6-seater UTV
5. Assign guns, eye and ear protection along with a vest or shell pouch.
6. Basic gun fit and eye dominance review.
7. Review safety rules again and emergency procedures. Answer any and all questions - NOTHING is a stupid question in this venue!
8. Have participants step into shooting stations.
9. Review all target presentations.
10. Shoot the targets. Will do a variety of single and double target presentations.
11. No pressure to shoot all targets! Shoot until you're tired, or just take a break.
12. For more advanced groups, we will go faster, and have a menu for pairs - both true and report pairs. There are also some fun games to play for intermediate to advanced groups. Additional targets/ammo available and priced per usage.
13. When we're done shooting, we'll head back down the mountain and the clubhouse will be open for refreshments.
Clothing:
1. Dress for the weather - layers are best as it's an open UTV ride to the shooting location and it can be chilly - especially in the shade.
2. Close-toed shoes are best - you will not need hiking boots or anything heavy duty.
3. Avoid loose fitting tops or high collars, as they can get in the way of the shotgun when mounted.
4. If you have Long hair - be sure to bring a hat or hair-tie to keep your hair out of your face.
